Smithfield Chevrolet Dealers Gives Answers Comparison The 2019 Chevrolet Traverse To The 2019 Toyota 4Runner
The 2019 Chevrolet Traverse is a large crossover that can eight passengers. Step inside the Traverse and you’ll experience the comfortable, spacious cabin. Buyers at the Smithfield Chevrolet dealer tell us they like the smooth ride the Traverse provides. You can’t overlook the fact the Traverse offers more room passenger and cargo space than most rivals.
One vehicle that potential Traverse buyers may be considering is the 2019 Toyota 4Runner. If you’ve been looking at either of these vehicles, read on as we compare them head to head and discover which one is the best buy.
Compare Seating Capacity
Even though it's a reasonably large midsize SUV, the 2019 4Runner still only has room for up to five most of the time as the third-row seat is an option. With that option, the seats are still only suitable for small children. The Traverse not only seats up to eight people; it also manages to do it while keeping every passenger comfortable.
Legroom in the front of these two vehicles is identical at 41 inches, but it's an entirely different story in the third row of seats. There's a relatively useful 31.1 inches of legroom in the third-row seats of the Acadia, which is fine for children, but the Traverse has room for full-grown adults in the back, with a generous 33.5 inches.
The Traverse has an engine advantage over the 4Runner right from the start, as it offers buyers a choice of engines, while the Toyota 4Runner doesn't. All versions of the 4Runner use the same 4.0-liter V6 that puts out a relatively modest 270 horsepower and 278 lb-ft of torque. The Traverse is available with either a turbo-four or a V6. The turbo-four is only available in the RS trim with front-wheel-drive, so most models on lots will have the 3.6-liter V6 that develops a very healthy 310 hp. If you do opt for the turbo-four instead, it makes 17 lb-ft more torque than the 4Runner's V6.
The NHTSA awarded the 2019 Chevrolet Traverse its highest rating of five stars for overall safety, while the 2019 Toyota 4Runner only received four stars. As of this writing, the IIHS hasn't crash-tested the 2019 Traverse.
Features and Equipment
The base 2019 Toyota 4Runner comes standard with a 6.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a full set of power features, a power-adjustable driver’s seat and a leather-covered steering wheel. The Travers L comes standard with seating for up to eight people, power features, tri-zone climate control, 18-inch alloys, and an impressive 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system that's Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatible.
In The End
The 2019 Toyota 4Runner is an excellent vehicle, but it’s outclassed by the 2019 Chevy Traverse. The Traverse is less expensive, more modern, provides more power, has more space for passengers and cargo, and has better crash-test scores than the 2019 Toyota 4Runner.
