For 2019, the Camaro gets a refresh, with a new infotainment interface, revised fascias and other cosmetic tweaks, and a 1LE performance package that’s now offered on Camaros equipped with the four-cylinder engine. The coupe now has an available 10-speed automatic transmission on the SS trim.
New Front End Design
The automotive experts at Kelley Blue Book give the 2019 Chevrolet Camaro high marks, writing: “You’ll want the 2019 Chevrolet Camaro if you like retro-tinged styling complemented by modern-day features and performance. Chevy offers a wide range of variants, from the base 1LT -- that still manages to make 275 horsepower -- all the way up to the smokin’ hot ZL1. Another plus: There’s still a Camaro convertible.”
The base Camaro 1LT has a nice list of standard features, including automatic climate control, a 7-inch touchscreen audio setup, a color driver-information display, dual USB ports, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, Bluetooth, a 4GLTE Wi-Fi hotspot and an AUX input. Also standard are power seats for the driver and passenger, push-button start and keyless entry, and a leather-wrapped flat-bottom steering wheel.
2019 Chevy Camaro Has Power
The 2019 Chevrolet Camaro is offered as a four-seat coupe or a convertible. There are seven trim levels in total: 1LS, 1LT, 2LT, 3LT, 1SS, 2SS and ZL1. All trims are available as a coupe with rear-wheel drive, and all but the base 1LS are offered as a convertible. Buyers can choose from one of four engines:
Powering the LS and LT trims is a standard 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that puts out 275 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque, connected to a standard six-speed manual gearbox or an optional eight-speed automatic with paddle shifters.
- The 1LT and 2LT can get an available 3.6-liter V6 that generates 335 hp and 284 lb-ft of torque. This engine is standard on the 3LT. Transmission options for this unit are the same as the 2.0-liter.
- The 1SS employs a 6.2-liter V8 that makes 455 hp and 455 lb-ft. teamed to a six-speed manual transmission with rev-matching downshift or an optional 10-speed automatic.
- ZL1 gets a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 that’s good for an incredible 650 hp and 650 lb-ft of torque, mated to a six-speed manual gearbox or an optional 10-speed automatic and launch control.
Safety features that come standard include advanced stability control and a full complement of airbags. The NHTSA gave the 2019 Chevrolet Camaro its highest rating of five stars. Available safety gear includes a rearview camera, blind-spot monitoring, rear parking sensors, Rear Cross Traffic Alert and Lane Change Alert.
